"It may come as a surprise to some, but certainly not to me. As reported by Newsday, the December issue of Self magazine ranked Long Island third, right after Honolulu and Portland, Maine as one of the healthiest places in which women can thrive."
Yes, it is a surprise to me, ....but not really! This is Newsday again reporting some bogus information. First of all, Long Island's breast cancer rate is well above the national average which kind of pulls the cover off of this one! Not surprising as we have this ancient above ground Electrical System which is banned but never discussed. Sure they did a study back in 2003 on whether or not this is the reason which came out negative, but I don't believe they did an accurate study; what about the Women who worked at a company that was very close to power lines? That's 8 hours a day, 5 days a week of concentrated electromagnetic radiation. Many commercial buildings are by power lines and to rule this out, you would have to not only go through their entire employment history but also the history of the building in which they were employed. Go look around at new developments out east on the Island and you will see all of them have underground wiring. This is because they know it's dangerous to your health (not just falling poles) to have above ground wiring. Long Island is old and after finding out the health risks, it is too late to do anything about the majority of Communities that are stuck with this old Technology and discussing it would cause widespread panic! So they choose to ignore it instead...after all we are all going to die anyway, right? It would cost way too much to replace all the above ground wiring unless everyone agrees on a good 100% tax hike; I'm sure Long Islanders would love that! ...but wait, there's more! Long Island has a number of other problems according to a study at Adelphi University.

"Real estate buyers beware. Hidden toxic hazards can drastically reduce property values, restrict property use, cause health problems or impose clean up liability on unsuspecting purchasers."
That's right, if you live here, you are living on top of toxic waste. There are all kinds of toxic waste that are spilled all over Long Island and in a few years down the road, (if you're still alive) the EPA will require a cleanup which will not be funded by anyone else but the owner of the property...yes that means you! Cleaning up toxic waste costs alot of money...we are talking about over $100k to clean it up. Several years from now when it's required, the costs will be much higher! Just one more reason to love Long Island! Here you can see a map of Gasoline spills alone (Long Island looks like a Chia Pet), then there are other toxic substances that you can map out to your favorite town. If these are all the ones that they have found, then I wonder where all the ones that they haven't found yet are!
Charlotte Fairley had lived in her Sag Harbor home less than six months when she discovered it sat atop a toxic waste plume and was worth just a fraction of what she had paid for it. More disturbing, she found out purely by accident. She said the history of the site was never revealed to her either by the real estate agent, or the developer that built the home. She never thought to ask.
Neighbors say there have been many cancer related illnesses and deaths in the neighborhood. Although there have been no medical studies, property values have plummeted.
We where shocked to find SuperFund Sites closer to our homes than we every imagined. Go take a look for yourself. Visit the EPA's SuperFund - National Priorities List
As in other areas of the United States, breast cancer is the most commonly reported cancer among women who reside on Long Island, NY. The high incidence rates observed in this geographic region3 (1) coupled with the local community’s long-term concern about the health and ecological effects of environmental pollution (2) , have culminated in grass roots support for the hypothesis that environmental pollutants are involved in the development of breast cancer.
Background and importance of the study: Women who live on Long Island, New York, have a higher breast cancer rate than women in most other areas of the country. In fact, Long Island has been identified as one of four "cancer cluster" areas in the northeastern United States.
So if we are the 3rd most healthy place to live (sarcastically speaking), then good god I hate to see what the rest of this world looks like!
I posted this information on her blog, but She won't allow it on her precious blog. Just like the two other posts I made to two other threads on her blog. Isn't that just like the typical Realtor? Baffle you with bullshit and hide the true facts! It truely reveals just how biased and one sided her blog really is.
